Nutrigenomics
Where genetics meets personalised nutrition
Your genes influence far more than your eye colour. They shape how your body absorbs and utilises nutrients, regulates inflammation, detoxifies, produces energy, and responds to stress - and no two people are the same.
Nutrigenomic testing adds another layer of insight. Rather than applying general nutritional principles, it allows us to identify where your body may have increased needs or reduced efficiency, and tailor recommendations accordingly.
It offers a valuable addition to your nutritional therapy programme.

What does it all mean?
Nutrigenetics examines how your individual genetic variations - known as SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) - may influence the way your body processes and responds to nutrients. These variations are entirely normal and present in everyone, but they can affect how efficiently certain biological pathways function.
Nutrigenomics looks at the other side of this relationship: how nutrition and lifestyle choices can influence the way your genes are expressed.
Together, these two fields help us understand:
-
where your body may have increased nutritional demands or reduced functional efficiency.
-
where targeted nutrition and lifestyle strategies may help support or optimise those pathways.
Your DNA is the blueprint you were born with. It doesn't change, but how that blueprint is read is not fixed.
Nutrition and lifestyle play an important role in shaping this, which is what allows a more personalised and clinically relevant approach.
